Below is a gallery of artwork featuring different pieces of art that I have created, either to illustrate ideas and concepts for game designs or to develop my skills in different artistic styles to fuel future game design projects. The artwork will be listed by project, and you will find more information on the dedicated pages of each respective project.
Some pieces originated from hand drawn concepts using varying traditional tools and were touched up or completed using Adobe Photoshop - or were created digitally entirely using one or more of the following: Photoshop, 3DS Max, Substance Painter or Zbrush.
Art Portfolio
Below are concept pieces for an action adventure game design titled 'Bolormaa', a mythical elderly Mongolian woman who relies on the help of different animals for flight, speed and brawn amongst other abilities in her quest to stop forces destroying her homeland. The game design won the 2016 Pilbeam Game Design 'Most Inspired' Award. More details can be found in the 'Game Design' section of this portfolio. The game would be set in an arctic setting, and was inspired by climate change, as well as the lack of elderly and foreign protagonists. In this art study I was experimenting with an art style that would be bold, striking, and inspired by fine art. The art shown below was created on paper and then on Photoshop. I developed the main antagonist by creating a 3D model of him in 3DS Max and Zbrush.

Purrocalypse
Below are concept pieces for a platforming game design titled 'Purrocalypse'. The game would take advantage of the different capabilities of a cat, including climbing up walls, the ability to free fall and land on their feet and quick instincts. The game features a demon monkey who is trying to destroy Lana the Lynx' land, by sending shadow demons to take over. In a quirky fashion, the demons would be allergic to cats, giving Lana an unlikely advantage, allowing her to shoot projectile fur balls and shed hair from above. The art is inspired by old mascot franchises such as Crash Bandicoot and Banjo Kazooie, with imaginative and quirky characters and environments.
The following images are concept pieces I contributed to a team at a Gamejam event in 2016, for the player characters. Extensive details and examples of further contributions for this project can be found in the Game Design section of this portfolio.
Out Of This World
The following images are works I created in a study to further my ability of different art styles, by creating interpretations of the DC Comics character the Joker.
Joker Study
The following images contain screenshots of a 3D model I created in 3DS Max, Zbrush and Surface Painter, and implemented into an environment I created in Unreal Engine. The project was based around creating a realistic looking Charizard model with anatomically believable skeleton and muscle features, in an interesting and iconic looking holy ground.
3D Charizard Study
Below are leftover images demonstrating anatomy and mixed media art studies that have inspired other artworks.
