Out Of This World is a space-jousting arcade multiplayer game created in Unity. Conceived as part of a four day Gamejam event with a team of four, I was Lead Designer of the game. We were given the title to create a game out of, and I conceived the concept and shaped it with the team as we went on. My responsibilities included: Game Design, Producer, Concept Art, Gameplay, UI and Audio Design, and managing play testing. Helping out in different areas allowed me to gain a larger insight into game design and working in a team as a hands-on game designer. I greatly enjoyed collaborating with a team of new people, and made sure that the playable prototype was produced on time. We decided to move forward with development in our spare time after the demo was well received at the showcase event. I am currently working with play testers to improve the game for future release. Below are some details of the production.

Above is an anouncement trailer that I created using Adobe Premiere to give the project an online presence, as well as to call enlist playtesters for notes to use as we continue development. I spoke with playtesters and shared their notes with the team as we continued development. The trailer contains gameplay footage from the four day prototype and new music that I had composed that did not previously feature in the game.
After deciding that the game would be set in space, I pitched that the aim would be claiming new worlds to score points to win a round, being careful not to float out of the boundaries of the screen. Believing that it would add an interesting twist to both the design and gameplay possibilities, I pitched adding jousting elements to the gameplay that would add inspiration from knights to the design of the characters.
Above is concept art that I provided to the group, mixing aspects of modern takes on science fiction space suits with knights and jousting apparell. Whilst the team liked the design, we found the detail and scale of the characters to be overly detailed and tall. I quickly sketched the images below to inspire a new direction for these designs.
The team were agreed on this look for the characters of the game. I collaborated with artist Lauren Clair to work on the final designs further as I began to work on the soundtrack to the game. Due to time restraints, the team ended up completing a simple spaceman suit for the final look of the playable character in the prototype, but future iterations will contain more available characters including those found below.

The music below was composed and created for the prototype with an electric guitar and Logic, in the latter two days of our four day total. I was trying to achieve an upbeat, frantic main musical theme that would fit the arcade gameplay. Secondly, I created some more tense music for when time was running out.
